Standard Update Alert for External Power Supplies

For External Power Supplies, some update of standards, standards revisions and standards proposals for Safety and EMC have been announced recently, please find the following detail.

Safety Standard No. : EN 61558-2-6:2009		Effective Date (DoW):July 2012
Title of Standard: Safety of transformers, reactors, power supply units and similar products
Key Requirements: The test voltage was changed from 1.06 to 1.1
Safety Standard No. : IEC/EN 60950:2006 +A11:2009	Effective Date (DoW): 1 Dec 2010
Title of Standard: Information technology equipment
Key Requirements:
Safety Standard No. : UL 1310 revision: 2009 July Edition 5	Effective Date (DoW): N/A
Title of Standard: Class 2 Power Units
Key Requirements: National deviation changes Revision of 1.1 to permit permanently connected Class 2 units to be supplied from a 600 V or less branch circuit Revision of 1.2 and 29.1 to specify that the 660 W limit applies only to direct plug-in and cord-connected products Revision of Table 33.1 to add temperatures for greater than Class 130 systems Revision of 39.2 to simplify output loading requirements Revision to address direct plug-in units that have removable blade assemblies Addition of requirements for power units for installation in air-handling spaces

EMC Standard No. : EN55014-1:2006+A1	Effective Date (DoW):May 2012
Title of Standard: Electromagnetic compatibility. Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus. Emission
Key Requirements: The testing requirement for battery operated product has be added in the standard. The testing frequency range for mains operated appliances has been extended from 300MHz to 1GHz.

EMC Standard No. : EN55014-2:1997+A1+A2	Effective Date (DoW):Sept 2011
Title of Standard: Electromagnetic compatibility. Requirements for household appliances, electric tools and similar apparatus. Immunity. Product family standard
Key Requirements: Testing requirement for EN61000-4-3 (Radiated immunity test), EN61000-4-5 (Surge) and EN61000-4-6 (Conduct immunity test) have been revised.

EMC Standard No. : EN55011:2009	Effective Date (DoW): Sept 2012
Title of Standard: Limits and methods of measurement of radio disturbance characteristics of industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) radio-frequency equipment
Key Requirements: Classification of Group 1 and Group 2 equipment were further clarified. Compliance measurements should take into account the considerations on measurement instrumentation uncertainty.

EMC Standard No. : EN55022:2006+A1	Effective Date (DoW): Oct 2010
Title of Standard: Information technology equipment. Radio disturbance characteristics. Limits and methods of measurement
Key Requirements: To Specifies REE testing up to 6 GHz and requires testing to be done using a validated test site (chamber) according to CISPR 16-1-4.
